Nestled in the serene coastal area of Pangandaran, West Java, Pantai Karang Nini is a hidden gem known for its long stretch of pristine sandy beach adorned with striking and unique rock formations. These karst stones, including the iconic "Karang Nini" rock shaped like an elderly woman (hence the name), give the beach its distinctive character and a picturesque panorama highly favored by nature lovers and photographers. The beach offers a tranquil atmosphere unlike the busier beaches in the region, making it ideal for relaxation, leisurely walks, and family outings. During low tide, visitors can observe various marine life trapped in the rock pools, providing a special experience for eco-tourists and those interested in marine biodiversity.

The local legend of Nini and Aki tells the poignant story of
an elderly couple living in a village in West Java. Aki, the husband, decided
to visit their daughter who lived far away, leaving Nini, his wife, behind to
wait for him. Aki promised to return two days after Lebaran (a festive day),
but the boat he took never came back because it sank in the ocean. Nini waited
patiently on the beach for her husband's return for many days, dressed and
hopeful. When the villagers found out about the sinking boat, they searched for
Nini but found no one, only the wind and sand. Eventually, they discovered a
rock on the beach that resembled an old woman sitting patiently. The villagers
believed the rock was Nini, eternally waiting for Aki, symbolizing a wife's
faithfulness and unwavering loyalty. This rock gave the beach its name: Pantai
Karang Nini, meaning "Nini's Rock Beach," honoring the faithful and
touching legend of Nini and Aki.
