Physical exercises such as hiking, running, or strength training will be very helpful. Climbing Mount Kerinci demands good stamina, especially when tackling steep ascents along the way. Some of the essential equipment to bring for the climb includes, comfortable and durable hiking boots, jackets or warm clothing (as temperatures can be very cold at the summit), camping gear (tent, mat, portable stove, etc.), sufficient food and water, personal medication and first aid kit, flashlight/headlamp with spare batteries.  Before you start your journey, make sure to check the weather forecast to avoid bad weather at the summit. To climb Mount Kerinci, you’ll pass through the Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS), which is one of the largest national parks in Sumatra. Entrance Fee, around IDR 25k - IDR 35k per person (prices may change from time to time). The Kerinci Seblat National Park is open every day, but most climbs are done early in the morning or in the afternoon to avoid bad weather at the summit. It’s recommended to start climbing early to reach the peak by afternoon or evening. For safety reasons, it is mandatory to have a licensed guide while climbing Mount Kerinci. You can hire a guide at the basecamp in Kersik Tuo village or nearby areas.

In the area surrounding the basecamp, you can use local transport services like public transport or motorcycles to get to the basecamp.
